ASUS brought more than the tantalizing ZenFone 3 Deluxe over at Computex 2016. Joining the 6GB RAM phone is the premium ASUS ZenFone 3 and the enormous ASUS ZenFone 3 Ultra phablet. Here’s a quick look at what these ZenFones offer.

ASUS ZenFone 3

The ZenFone 3 is an update to its highly popular predecessor, the ZenFone 2. The new ZenFone 3 has a 5.5-inch Super IPS+ display with Full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution). It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC – an octa-core system-on-chip made using the 14nm FinFET process – that the same manufacturing process that also gave us the benchmark-topping Snapdragon 820 SoC. Like its predecessor, the ZenFone 3 has 4GB RAM on-board for general performance and tasks.

The device comes equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera, supported by ASUS TriTech autofocus – this autofocus technology maximizes the laser, phase detection, and continuous autofocus features on the phone, and ASUS claimed that the ZenFone 3 can focus on subjects in 0.03 seconds.

ASUS made a few improvements to bump up that premium feel on their new flagship device. Firstly, the ZenFone 3 now has body encased in scratch-resistant 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass, which is unlike the ZenFone 2’s plastic body. Secondly, it now comes with a fingerprint sensor on the rear of the phone. The sensor, like most flagship phones with the same feature, is for unlocking the smartphone when a user’s finger sits on it.

The ZenFone 3 Ultra is 6.8-inch phablet with a Full HD display (1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution). Like the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, it has a full-metal unibody chassis with no visible antenna line. It’s powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 SoC, which is also found in the Xiaomi Mi Max phablet. The ZenFone 3 Ultra has 4GB RAM, and it comes with a 23-megapixel rear camera that also uses the ASUS TriTech autofocus technology.

With a display this huge, ASUS decided to bolt on some features to maximize the viewing experience for the ZenFone 3 Ultra. There’s Tru2Life+ video technology, a proprietary image processing technique that optimizes each pixel before it’s displayed. The phablet’s audio uses two powerful five-magnet stereo speakers and a NXP smart amplifier. Headphone users get to enjoy high-res audio with its virtual 7.1 surround sound, courtesy of DTS’s Headphone:X technology.

As a phablet, the ZenFone 3 Ultra has a battery capacity of 4,600mAh, and the Snapdragon SoC allows the phone to enjoy Quick Charge 3.0. The phablet plays nice with power banks that have a 1.5A output, too.

ASUS has yet to tell us about the availability and pricing of these phones, but we know that the ZenFone 3 stands a good chance of enjoying the affordable price point that graced the ZenFone 2. We will update this space once we get the word on its availability.
