The 14-inch ASUS ZenBook Duo with ScreenPad Plus and Intel "Comet Lake" CPU is coming in September
ASUS has just announced the availability and pricing details of a couple of new notebooks today, including the ZenBook Pro Duo UX581 (review here), the limited edition ZenBook Edition 30, and the ZenBook UX434.
However, the notebook that caught my eye was the ZenBook Duo UX481. Essentially, it's a smaller and much more affordable version of the larger 15-inch ZenBook Pro Duo.
It features a 14-inch Full-HD main display and also a secondary display in the ScreenPad Plus. It's slightly thinner at 22mm but much light at just 1.5kg.
You miss some goodies such as a USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port and an OLED display, but the key specifications are still pretty good:
- Intel Core i7-10510U "Comet Lake" processor
- 16GB RAM
- NVIDIA GeForce MX250 GPU
- 1TB M.2 SSD
As for ports, you are getting:
- 1 x USB-C (USB 3.2)
- 1 x USB-A (USB 3.1)
- 1 x HDMI port
- 1 x microSD card
- 1 x 3.5mm audio jack
You also get Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, which promises better overall network performance especially if you have a compatible router.
The best thing, however, is that the ZenBook Duo UX481 is priced at S$2,198. This means that for not much more than a "regular" ultraportable notebook with comparable specifications, you can get a notebook with dual displays, which, I would argue, is a nice thing to have especially if you like working on large displays or with multiple windows.
The ZenBook Duo UX481 will be available sometime from mid September onward.
