Yes, the ZenBook lineup is about to get a lot more confusing, but don't worry, we are here to clear things up.

This is the new ZenBook 14 UX425. It's has a 14-inch display and, no, it doesn't replace the ZenBook 14 UX434 that I reviewed earlier this year.

Instead, ASUS is positioning this new notebook as a more portable alternative. It's slimmer, lighter, and has a much longer battery life.

The aluminum alloy chassis is just 13.9mm thick and weight is just 1.17kg. It has a large (for its class) 67Wh battery and a claimed battery life of up to 22 hours.

There's also fast charging and ASUS says the notebook can charge up to 40% in under 30 minutes with the bundled 65W power adapter.

Inside, it's powered by the latest 10th generation Intel Ice Lake core processors. Core i5 and Core i7 options will be available.

The 14-inch display supports Full-HD resolution and the bezels are super-thin – just 2.5mm on the sides. ASUS says it has a screen-to-body ratio of 90%.

Interestingly, despite its svelte dimensions, it has a full-size USB-A port supporting USB 3.2 Gen 1. It even has a full-size HDMI 2.0 port. Rounding things up are two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports and a microSD card reader. There's also support for Wi-Fi 6.

But perhaps most significant of all is that ASUS has finally ditched the DC-in port for charging. Power now goes through the USB-C ports which makes it much easier to get aftermarket chargers for this notebook.

Curiously, there's no 3.5mm jack. ASUS says there's no space for one because of the two USB-C ports and the fact that the notebook is so slim. I'm not sure if I believe them. If it's any consolation, ASUS provides a USB-C to 3.5mm jack for users who want to plug in their wired headphones.

The new ASUS ZenBook 14 UX425 is available now and comes in the two configurations below:
