ASUS' new Intel Core Ultra-powered Zenbook 14 OLED is thinner and lighter than ever (Updated)

Note: This article was first published on 8 January 2024 and was updated on 23 February 2024 with local availability and pricing details.

The new ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED features Intel's latest Core Ultra "Meteor Lake" processors.

The ZenBook 14 OLED is the mainstay of ASUS' Zenbook lineup and it's just been updated with new internals and an improved form factor.

The latest Zenbook 14 OLED has the model name UX3405 and it's thinner and lighter than ever, measuring just 14.9mm thick and tipping the scales at just 1.2kg.

Despite its svelte dimensions, it still has a 75Wh battery and a full suite of ports including two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB Type-A port, and even a full-size HDMI 2.1 port.

The big change is on the inside where you'd find Intel's newest Core Ultra processors, which have NPUs (neural processing units) for AI acceleration and integrated Arc graphics. You can get up to a Core Ultra 9 processor and up to 32GB of LPDDR5x memory. Maximum storage is a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD.

The OLED display has been updated too and now features what ASUS calls a Lumina OLED display. There will be 3K (2880 x 1800 pixels) and full-HD options.

The 3K option supports 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space, has DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification, and has a 120Hz refresh rate. The Full-HD also supports 100% of the DCI-P3 colour space and has DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification, but has a lower 60Hz refresh rate.

Like many other notebook manufacturers, the new ZenBook 14 OLED is built with sustainability in mind. It uses up to 50% post-consumer-recycled materials and its packaging is 100% recyclable. The battery was also designed to support up to 20% more charging cycles.

Based on what we've seen here, the ZenBook 14 OLED looks like another solid offering from ASUS. It has Intel's latest chips, a thinner and lighter form factor, and, seeing that it still has a proper suite of ports, doesn't seem to compromise on functionality. This is one notebook that we are eager to get our hands on.
