The ASUS TUF Gaming A15 notebook is crafted for gamers with a budget

ASUS has announced its all-new TUF Gaming A15 gaming notebook is now available for purchase, which we covered briefly earlier this year. The notebook will come equipped with AMD’s Ryzen 7 4800H processor and NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 1650 graphics chip.

Lest you are confused with ASUS’s top of the line ROG (Republic of Gamers) gaming brand, the TUF series of gaming notebooks are targeted at the mainstream gamers – those who are far less likely to need the best and fastest hardware.

That is not to say the TUF Gaming A15 lacks in innovation. For one, it sports a really good AMD processor in the Ryzen 7 4800H. For context, the ROG Zephyrus G14 is powered by a slightly different Ryzen 4800HS, which comes with a lower TDP and so is a little less speedy, but gains better battery performance).

The notebook also allows for easy upgrading, with the bottom being secured with standard Phillips screws, along with one special pop-open screw that helps separate the panel without a prying tool. Two memory slots are available that can accommodate up to 32GB of RAM. ASUS does have a bad habit of utilizing one memory slot (running on single-channel rather than the better dual-channel option), so I will not be surprise if the 8GB memory on the TUG Gaming A15 is a 1x8GB RAM rather than a 2x4GB solution. As is common with gaming notebooks these days, the TUF Gaming A15 comes with dual M.2 slots, although the included 1TB NVMe SSD should suffice for most.

One of major improvements made here, as compared to its predecessors, is the slimming down of the TUG Gaming A15’s mass by up to 7%. This also means the IPS-level display can sports an ultra-slim NanoEdge bezel around it. The embedded GeForce GTX 1650 is also more than sufficient if you’re mostly playing MOBA games like League of Legends, and shooters such as Valorant or Counter-Strike that aren’t hardware demanding. If you are after power gaming, then obviously the ROG series are more right up your alley.

The TUF Gaming A15 (FA506IH-GTX1650) will be retailing at S$1,498 starting from today and available at the ASUS Exclusive Store, ASUS Online Store and all authorised retailers.
