The ASUS RT-AX88U has become one of the first routers to receive Wi-Fi 6 certification

ASUS has announced that its RT-AX88U router has just become one of the first routers to be Wi-Fi 6 certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance.

Specificially, the Wi-Fi Alliance has certified the RT-AX88U router's support for WPA3 and capability in ODFMA-related transmissions.

Wi-Fi 6 or 802.11ax is the next big standard in wireless networking. For those unfamiliar with Wi-Fi 6, we urge you to read our guides here and here.

In a nutshell, Wi-Fi 6 promises faster networking speeds and also support for more connected devices ― crucial in today’s world when just about everything and anything can be connected to the web and controlled with an app.

And to recap, the RT-AX88U is a dual-band AX6000-class router that delivers a maximum data transfer rate of 1,148Mbps and 4,804Mbps on its 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks respectively.

The ASUS RT-AX88U retails for S$599 but interested readers should check out Amazon, Lazada and Shopee for possible deals.
