If you haven't already noticed, 18-inch gaming notebooks are all the rage these days. It doesn't sound like much, but that few extra inches really make for a more immersive gaming experience.

And ASUS' latest gaming notebook is this: the new ROG Strix G18. Let's start with the display.

It's an 18-inch IPS LCD display with QHD resolution (2560 x 1600 pixels) and a high refresh rate of 240Hz. It supports G-Sync technology, Dolby Vision, covers 100% of the P3 colour space, and is Pantone-validated.

Powering it is the might Core i9-13980HX processor – a 24-core monster with 8 performance cores and 16 efficient cores. This is complemented by NVIDIA's new GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, 16GB of DDR5 memory, and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD.

To ensure maximum performance, it has an MUX switch so users can choose when to completely disable the integrated graphics and rely on the discrete NVIDIA graphics.

As for ports, you'll find a single USB-C Thunderbolt 4 port, a single USB-C USB 3.2 Gen 2 port with support for video and power delivery, and two USB-A USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports for your peripherals. It also has a Gigabit Ethernet jack, a single HDMI 2.1 port, a 3.5mm audio combo jack, and a DC-in jack for power.

The ROG Strix G18 is on the right. On the left, is a 16-inch ROG Zephyrus M16. Look at how much more screen real estate you get.

The ROG Strix G18 isn't exactly what you'd call portable but it isn't impossible to transport either as long as you are willing to put up with a bit of inconvenience. That's the price you pay for all those extra screen real estate. Thickness is 30.8mm and the weight is a reasonable 3.1kg.

Availability and pricing

The ROG Strix G18 is available now with the above-mentioned specifications for S$3,848. You can find it on the ASUS Online Store and the ROG Experience Store at Bugis.
