ASUS has a new ultra-thin and light notebook for those who must have the absolute in mobility. The ZenBook 13 UX331UAL weighs just 985g, making it one of the few ultrabooks that tip the scales at less than a kilogram.

It’s also equipped with the latest Intel 8th-generation processor and a generous 512GB PCIe SSD, so it makes few compromises in terms of power.

Here’s an overview of its specifications:

  • 13.3-inch 1,920 x 1,080-pixel display
  • Intel Core i5-8250U processor (1.6GHz, 6MB L3 cache)
  • 8GB LPDDR3 2,133MHz RAM
  • 512GB PCIe SSD
  • 50Wh Li-polymer battery
  • 310 x 216 x 13.9mm
  • 985g

First unveiled at CES 2018, the UX331UAL will be available to buy at S$1,698 starting from 21 February. You can get it in Deep Dive Blue at all ASUS Brand Stores and authorized retailers.

ASUS says this is the first ZenBook to be constructed from magnesium-aluminum alloy, a strong and lightweight material that enabled ASUS to really shave off the grams. It’s also tough and resilient, and the notebook has also passed MIL-STD 810G testing for reliability and durability.

There’s a decent selection of ports and connectors, including two USB 3.1 (Gen 1) Type-A, one USB 3.1 (Gen 1) Type-C, and an HDMI 1.4 connector. There’s a microSD card reader here as well, although it’d have been nice to see a full-sized SD card slot.

ASUS is claiming up to 15 hours of battery life on the UX331UAL, which when combined with its light weight, should make for a compelling option for the mobile road warrior.
