ASUS might discontinue its ZenWatch lineup of Android Wear watches

Apple's dominance in the wearables market might have forced another major player to exit the space.

According to DigiTimes, sources in the Taiwan's supply chain claim that ASUS is likely to discontinue the ZenWatch lineup as sales of the smartwatches are poor. Based on estimates, ASUS is currently shipping between 5,000 to 6,000 units of its ZenWatch devices every month.

If true, ASUS would be the latest company to pull out of the Android Wear platform. Motorola confirmed in December 2016 that the company will be holding off on smartwatches indefinitely due to insufficient interest and low demand. Samsung has focused all its efforts in promoting Tizen OS on its wearables.
