ASUS Launches New Blu-ray Drives and Active Noise Canceling Headphones

New entertainment products from ASUS are to be shown at CeBIT 2011 including Blu-ray drives with advanced media format compatibility, 3D playback, smartphone remote control functionality and USB 3.0-based high speed write performance. Also on display at the show are all-new active noise canceling headphones, designed to provide high quality portable personal audio.

Versatile Blu-ray players with Comprehensive Format Support

The new ASUS O!Play BDS-700 Blu-ray player uses Qdeo video post-processing to deliver clear, vivid images in native high definition and upscaling of 480p DVD content. It supports Blu-ray 3D playback on compatible screens for immersive movie-watching experiences, delivering 7.1-channel surround sound mastered in Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD. An independent audio-only HDMI port on the BDS-700 guarantees improved high definition audio performance through a dedicated channel.

Support for a wide range of video, audio, image and subtitle formats ensures the BDS-700 offers the highest degree of media compatibility available. Content can play directly from external storage devices via the included USB port, while Ethernet comes standard. High speed 802.11n Wi-Fi with DLNA support enables easy and cable-free media streaming across a network and from cloud-based content providers such as Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, Flickr and Picasa. Internet radio streaming is also available.

Support for smartphone remote control of the BDS-700 also makes access to content easier. Full compatibility with iPhone, Android, Windows Phone 7, Blackberry and Symbian devices allows users to control playback and enter text using the on-screen keyboard.

High Quality Blu-ray Playback with Fast Content Backup and Management

ASUS offers the most complete external Blu-ray selection on the market, including writers, combo drives and players with 3D support. These cater to every Blu-ray need customers may have. The all-new ASUS BW-12D1S-U external Blu-ray writer serves users who wish to both play and backup content on their computers. The drive uses a USB 3.0 connection for 12X Blu-ray writing, around twice as fast as similar USB 2.0-enabled external drives. Built-in 3D support, 2D to 3D conversion and DVD video upscaling make the BW-12D1S-U a versatile option for all PC-based high definition content consumption.

Active Noise Canceling Personal Audio with a Compact Design

The ASUS NC1 compact active noise canceling headphones use technology that eliminates up to 87 percent of ambient noise. A fold-flat and lightweight 130g form factor allows for convenient storage in the included touring case for easy portability. Active noise canceling performance lasts a typical 100 hours on a single battery, while the NC1 headphones can also operate battery-free in standard passive audio mode.
