ASUS expands its mesh-networking range with Lyra Voice and Lyra Trio

ASUS revealed an all-new lineup of connected devices at the CES 2018 show in Las Vegas today. Making their debut include the Lyra Voice, Lyra Trio and RT-AX88U.

Lyra Voice

The Lyra Voice is a two-in-one 802.11ac mesh Wi-Fi system and voice assistant with stereo speakers, a microphone and, interestingly, integrated Amazon Alexa voice control. The Lyra Voice will allow users to interact with Amazon Alexa simply by talking to Lyra Voice, enabling them to play music, hear the news, check the weather, control smart-home devices, and more.

Part of the Lyra mesh WiFi system family, the Lyra Voice is a tri-band, AC2200-class device that communicates with other connected Lyra hubs to provide whole-home coverage with no WiFi dead zones. Its integration with Alexa also makes it a good device to have for wherever a smart assistant is desired, such as the kitchen, living room or bedroom. ASUS claims that the system will integrates with trigger and automation services such as IFTTT via a companion app, making it easy to turn a traditional house into the connected smart home.

Lyra Trio

The Lyra Trio also pairs with the same companion app and is compatible with the ASUS's mesh WiFi system. The strange pyramid design houses 3x3 MIMO technology to deliver fast and stable WiFi and privacy protection for all connected smart devices.

Both the Trio and the Lyra Voice will be available during the first half of 2018, although ASUS is still mum on the products' pricing.

The company also announced a new 'traditional' router. The RT-AX88U is their latest wireless router based on the 802.11ax wireless standard for WiFi speeds of up to 6000Mbps. It also comes with eight Gigabit LAN ports and MU-MIMO for both uplink and downlink communications.
