ASUS Delivers Extreme Network Speeds and Audio for Gamers at CES 2012
ASUS unleashes a comprehensive suite of products designed to enhance the gaming experience at the CES 2012.
With double 450Mbps bands operating separately at 2.4GHz and 5GHz, the RT-N66U dual-band wireless gigabit router delivers combined wireless speeds of up to 900Mbps. Its powerful 26dBm Wi-Fi amplifiers help extend its wireless range, while 8 SSIDs provides 6 extra guest networks for higher security. It is also the first router to implement the new advanced ASUS UI. The ASUSWRT dashboard lets users monitor and adjust network settings easily; while a download manager allows for file downloads with the PC off, along with remote management of mobile devices like tablets and smartphones.
The world's first dual-band wireless Ethernet adapter that delivers selectable 450Mbps bands in both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, the EA-N66 dual-band wireless Ethernet adapter acts as a 3-in-1 home networking solution with its Ethernet adapter, repeater, and access point modes. When paired with the RT-N66U, the EA-N66 gives gamers incredible network speeds and coverage for multiplayer gaming sessions.
Based on the Intel X79 chipset, the Rampage IV Formula/ThunderFX gaming motherboards offer exclusive audio and are preloaded with technologies like the SupremeFX III and Intel Gigabit Ethernet with GameFirst technology. It also supports 4-way NVIDIA SLI and AMD CrossFireX, which will maximize visual performance and overclocking potential.
The ThunderFX is an external DAC (digital-analogue converter) that is compatible with PCs and game consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It has two front connectors, one for headphones/headsets and the other for microphones. With the selector switch in front, it allows the user to toggle between his PC and gaming consoles while the same headset or microphone are still in use. The ThunderFX features a noise cancellation microphone to remove environmental noise and it is capable of delivering up to 300 ohms of headphone amplification too.
Co-developed with Xonar audio specialists, the ROG Xonar Phoebus gaming soundcard is capable of supplying sound clarity to ensure fully immersive in-game audio. The Xonar Phoebus control box gives users complete control over volume settings right at their desk; while the latest ROG Command Technology integrates array microphones can effectively reduce up to 50 percent of environmental noise, helping gamers to command and direct with seamless communication. ASUS seems to have take a leaf from Creative's books as we have witnessed last year Creative's launch of its Sound Core3D audio chipset and the slew of products based on it. Creative's Recon3D products come to mind as we look on at ASUS' ThunderFX and the ROG Xonar Phoebus.
