Astell&Kern and Beyerdynamic team up to create a new headphone – the AK T5p 2nd Generation

Better known for their high-end Digital Audio Players (DAPs) like the A&futura SE100, Astell&Kern has just announced the launch of the AK T5p 2nd Generation headphone. This is a closed-back headphone produced in partnership with Beyerdynamic that brings together the best of both companies in a single product.

It uses Beyerdynamic's Tesla Technology transducers for high efficiency and low impedance, making them easy to power from portable devices. Beyerdynamic has specially tuned the AK T5p 2nd Generation to match Astell&Kern's portable players, so you’ll get best-in-class details, great clarity across all frequencies, and excellent bass from such a pairing.

High efficiency and low impedance make the headphones easy to drive.

The AK T5p 2nd Generation also comes with specially designed detachable cables that are each made of four 99.8% pure silver cables and four OCC copper cables braided together. This combination presents the exact characteristics of the headphone’s Tesla Technology drivers, giving you balanced and natural sound. The cable terminates in a 2.5mm 4-pole balanced connector to match the balanced headphone out on Astell&Kern players, but there’s also a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter and a quarter-inch connection adaptor included if you intend to use the headphone with other devices.

Get your fixed whether you used a balanced or regular 3.5mm source.

Only premium quality sheepskin has been used for the ear pads and headbands of the AK T5p 2nd Generation, so you can expect excellent comfort even with extended listening sessions. As you can see in the picture above, the stylish headphone also comes with its own carrying case for easier transport when not in use.

The AK T5p 2nd Generation is available now at a recommended retail price (RRP) of S$1,799 at all authorized retailers.
