Apple's New Developer Agreement Favors Own iAd Platform

We know, we know, it's probably naive of us to have expected a level playing field when it comes to Apple's new advertising platform, but an examination of the company's new developer agreement shows that the advantage is in favor of its own iAd platform. Third-party advertisers can continue to push ads on Apple devices, but they are unable to get usage and analytical information.

Wired.com - Apple told us last week that it would not prevent third-party ad networks from embedding ads in applications for the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, even though those networks would compete with its own iAd platform. “Yes, we still allow developers or other advertising companies to serve ads within their apps,” Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller told Wired.com.
