Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is back with more information on Apple's mixed reality headset.

According to Kuo, Apple's mixed reality headset will have 3D sensors that are more advanced than those used on the iPhone and iPad for Face ID. While the iPhone has one set of 3D sensor, the mixed reality headset is said to have four sets of 3D sensors to power an innovative gesture and motion detection system.

Kuo says the 3D sensors not only detect the position of the user or other people's hand and object in front of the user's eyes, but they also can track the dynamic detail change of the hand. This will translate into a more intuitive and vivid human-machine UI. The 3D sensors are rumoured to have an increased field of view and can detect objects up to 200% further away than the current Face ID sensor.

The mixed reality headset is expected to weigh around 300g to 400g and Apple is reportedly working on a second-generation model for launch in 2024. Kuo added that there are other Apple AR/VR devices in the pipeline and these are "Apple's metaverse hardware devices".
