Apple's iPhone market share estimated to overtake Samsung in Q4

The Apple iPhone 13 lineup.

Samsung is predicted to lose its lead in the global phone market this quarter.

Market research firm TrendForce estimates that Apple will grow its iPhone market share to 23.2% in Q4 due to strong holiday sales and better supply chain management. On the other hand, the global chip shortage will continue to affect Oppo, Samsung and Xiaomi and this will result in Samsung losing market share from 21.2% in Q3 to 19.4%. in Q4.

Apple is not entirely immune to the ongoing component shortages. It reportedly lowered iPad production so that more components can be allocated to the iPhone 13. Components for older iPhone models are also set aside for the iPhone 13. DigiTimes expects iPhone 13 supply to only catch up with demand in February 2022.
