Apple Watch Series 7 did not have body temperature tech due to algorithm issues

The Apple Watch Series 7.

Analyst Ming Chi Kuo claims the Apple Watch Series 7 missed out on the body temperature measurement technology due to algorithm issues.

In a series of tweets, Kuo shared that the algorithm failed to make the cut before entering EVT stage last year. He thinks it is a challenge to perfect the algorithm as skin temperature changes according to the environments.

Since it is technically impossible for a smartwatch to measure core temperature, Apple needs to refine the algorithm to work better. Kuo also believes Samsung is facing the same issues, hence the Galaxy Watch5 may not debut with the body temperature measurement technology.

Rumours about the body temperature measurement technology surfaced in September last year after the Wall Street Journal wrote that a new sensor can help measure body temperature for fertility planning. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg said in February that the body temperature feature could be introduced.
