Apple Watch received an estimated one million pre-orders on April 24 in the U.S

Apple is said to have received an estimated one million pre-orders for the Watch.

The Apple Watch seems to be off on a good start based on data collected by research company Slice Intelligence.

According to Slice Intelligence, e-receipts from 9,080 online shoppers showed that an estimated 957,000 customers pre-ordered the Apple Watch last Friday, April 24 in the U.S. There are also other findings:

  • most customers chose the least expensive option - the Watch Sport.
  • most customers (71%) preferred the 42mm option
  • each customer spent an average of US$503.83 per watch

Do note that the data above does not include sales figures from the other 8 countries - Canada, Australia, the U.K, Germany, France, Japan, China and Hong Kong. In comparison, the first generation iPhone sold 270,000 units in the first 30 hours of its availability while the first generation iPad achieved sales of 300,000 units on its first day.

If you are hoping to get the Apple Watch in Singapore, it is going to be a long wait as there is no official information on its availability. Apple Online Store Singapore still states the device as "available in 2015".
