Apple could be switching to microLED for the Apple Watch in 2025.
According to display analyst Ross Young, Apple would start panel production of microLED displays for the Apple Watch from 2024. The first Apple Watch to hit the consumer market is slated in the spring of 2025.
Young's report comes a week after Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu claims an Apple Watch Ultra with a bigger microLED screen would launch in 2024.
Apple has been rumoured to be developing MicroLED technology for many years. Bloomberg claimed in 2018 that Apple is developing its own MicroLED displays at a secret facility near its California headquarters.
Epistar Chairman Lee Biing-jye predicted in 2020 that smartwatches would be the first major consumer devices to adopt microLED in three to four years.
