Apple Watch 2 rumored to be launched in mid to late 2016

The Apple Watch will not have a successor until the middle or latter part of 2016.

If you've been holding off the purchase of the Apple Watch due to concerns that a new model is coming this year, you probably can go ahead to buy one now.

According to a research memo released by Cowen and Company analyst Timothy Arcuri, the second generation Apple Watch (often referred as Apple Watch 2) is expected to be unveiled in mid to late 2016. The memo also reveals the sales forecast for the Apple Watches:

  • 18 million units of Apple Watch to be shipped by end 2015
  • At least 45 million units of Apple Watch (including Apple Watch 2) in 2016

While an earlier rumor suggested that the Apple Watch 2 would retain the same screen size, resolution and shape, the Cowen forecast believes the upcoming model will be thinner and deliver better performance. The Apple Watch 2 is also alleged to sport a display made by LG.
