Apple updates MacBook Pro with new chips, True Tone display and 3rd-gen keyboard
Apple just updated the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro (Touch Bar models) with new processors, better displays and an improved keyboard.
The base model of the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar now comes with the 2.3GHz quad-core 8th generation Intel Core i5 processor and 8GB LPDDR3 RAM. It also has 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports. The 15-inch model can be configured up to 32GB LPDDR4 RAM with a six-core processor.
Apple also brings the True Tone display technology to the Mac lineup for the first time which allows the display to change its color temperature based on the environmental lighting. The T2 chip coprocessor is also present to offer enhanced system security and secure boot similar to the more expensive iMac Pro.
Although there is a new, third generation keyboard on the new MacBook Pros which is quieter, it is not designed to solve the reliability issues that plagued previous MacBook models.
Apple states that the new MacBook Pro models will be available for purchase next week with prices starting from S$2,588 and S$3,488 for the 13-inch and 15-inch models respectively.
