Apple has updated its 13 and 15-inch MacBook Pro notebooks with Intel's latest processors and new keyboards.

The biggest changes are happening to the 15-inch MacBook Pro which now gets Intel's newest 9th generation Coffee Lake processors.

The entry-level 15-inch MacBook Pro (if you can ever call a 15-inch MBP entry level) now comes with a 6-core Core i7-9750H processor while the higher-end model comes with an 8-core Core i9-9880H processor.

Here's a quick summary of the two off-the-shelf configurations available:

15-inch MacBook Pro configurations
Processor 6-core Intel Core i7-9750H 6-core Intel Core i9-9880H
Memory 16GB 16GB
Storage 256GB 512GB
Graphics AMD Radeon Pro 555X AMD Radeon Pro 560X
Price S$3,499 S$3,999

According to Apple, the higher-end 8-core MacBook Pro delivers double the performance of a quad-core MacBook Pro and 40% more performance than a 6-core MacBook Pro.

Of course, if you want even more performance, you can customize your 15-inch MacBook Pro with the top-of-the-line 8-core Core i9-9980HK that can turbo boost itself up to 5GHz.

Other customization options are unchanged. You can have up to 32GB of memory and 4TB of SSD storage.

As for graphics, you get the AMD Radeon Pro 555X as a minimum but you can also opt for the more capable Radeon Pro Vega 16 or Radeon Pro Vega 20.

In case you were wondering, a fully decked out 15-inch MacBook Pro with all the maximum possible options will set you back a cool S$9,249.

In addition, according to reports, the new 15-inch MacBook Pro is also getting an updated keyboard. Details surrounding the updates are scarce but it is said to address the issues of double key presses and unresponsive keys that some users have been experiencing.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar gets updated too. They now come with the latest Intel 8th generation Whiskey Lake processors.

The entry-level model gets the Core i5-8365U while the higher-end model gets the Core i7-8665U processor. Both are quad-core processors.

Here's a summary of the two off-the-shelf configurations available for the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. Users can customize their model if they feel that they might require more memory or storage.

And like the 15-inch MacBook Pro, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar will also be getting the new updated keyboard design.

Finally, and most unfortunately, the 13-inch MacBook Pro without Touch Bar models are not being updated. They retain the same specifications as they did when they were last updated in 2017.

Both notebooks are available right now at apple.com/sg.
