Apple Testing iPhone 6 and iOS 7?

Apple gave a preview of iOS 6 at the annual WWDC event in June 2012.

Testing of the next generation iPhone and iOS operating system are underway as evidence popped up in app usage logs. According to The Next Web, developers have shared references to a new iPhone identifier and the next major software update to the iOS platform.

One developer apparently revealed that an app on a device powered by iOS 7 and given the "iPhone6,1" identifier was making requests from an IP address on Apple's Cupertino campus. It is possible that the software development and app teams are conducting compatibility tests on some apps.

Sources told The Next Web that work on iOS 7 began sometime towards the end of 2012, and Apple is going to finalize the features that will be included in its first public release soon. Apple's current iPhone 5 models have the identifiers "iPhone5,1" and "iPhone5,2", which are based on the LTE model and the 4G LTE bands on which they operate.
