Apple to switch to an all-OLED iPhone lineup next year?

2020 may finally be the year when Apple finally switches to an all-OLED iPhone lineup.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports that Apple will drop the use of LCD screens from the iPhone lineup and move to OLED as the latter offers "more flexible handset design". It adds that Japan Display, which is a major supplier of LCD panels for Apple, is seeking a bailout from an investor group from China and Taiwan due to disappointing sales of the iPhone XR.

Rumors have been circulating since 2017 that Apple would switch all iPhone models to OLED. The Bell and Electronics Times claimed that the full transition to OLED would happen this year. JPMorgan analyst Jay Kwon casted doubts on these claims as he believes OLED displays would make the iPhones too expensive. Another analyst said that Apple is struggling to secure sufficient OLED panels for the iPhone to make a full transition this year.
