Apple is shrinking its noninvasive blood glucose tech for future Apple Watches

By now, it's almost an open secret that Apple is planning to include some form of noninvasive blood glucose measuring feature in its future Apple Watches.

This has been talked about for ages but trying to incorporate this technology into a watch that's small enough to be worn comfortably on your wrist is hard.

Happily, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has just reported that Apple has made notable progress on this front.

According to Gurman, the technology is now in a "proof-of-concept" stage, meaning that it's viable but needs to be shrunken down to a size that can fit a typical Apple Watch.

The prototype is reportedly about the size of an iPhone right now. Though it can be attached to a person's arm, it's clearly impossible to incorporate this tech into a watch.

Interestingly, the current prototype is a lot smaller than it used to be. The prior version is said to be so large that it had to be placed on a table.

Although all this sounds promising, the report also says the technology is still years away from being viable. Apple reportedly has hundreds of engineers working on it in its Exploratory Design Group (XDG) and is said to have spent hundreds of millions of dollars developing a noninvasive way of measuring blood glucose levels.
