The iPads continued to sell very well in Q4 2020 according to market research firm Canalys.

Its market research data shows that Apple continued to dominate the tablet market with shipments increasing 40% to 19.2 million units. Canalys claims it is Apple's best iPad sales performance since Q4 2014. Apple had the same milestone in the global phone market; it shipped the most number of iPhones ever with 81.8 million units.

Samsung also saw a huge spike with 9.9 million tablets shipped, an increase of 41% from a year ago. Amazon came in third with 6.5 million units and Lenovo clinched fourth position with 5.6 million units shipped, a whopping 125% increase YoY. Overall, the global tablet market saw an all-time high of 52.8 million units shipped in Q4 and a total of 160.6 million units for the entire year.

Chromebooks also registered all-time high shipments with the global market almost quadrupled in size over the same period a year ago. HP maintained its lead with 3.5 million units and Lenovo came in second position with 2.8 millon units. Lockdowns and e-learnings have accelerated the adoption of Chromebooks in schools and universities, and this demand is likely to continue through 2021.
