Apple sends surveys to iPhone owners on usage of USB charger

Apple's 18W USB-C power adapter.

Apple is conducting a survey among iPhone owners on how they use the USB chargers that come with the retail box of their devices.

In the survey, the iPhone maker explains that it is referring to the USB power adapter and not the charging cable, and includes several checkboxes on how they use the chargers such as:

  • I sold or traded it with my iPhone
  • I lost it
  • I gave it to a family member or friend
  • I still use it at home
  • I still use it outside (at work, at school, or other places)
  • I still have it, but I don't use it

iPhone user @Gunstaxl shared a screenshot of the survey on Twitter and said that the survey asked about how he is using the bundled charger.

Multiple reports have surfaced in the past week claiming that Apple will not be shipping a charger and EarPods with the iPhone 12 this year. Apple could justify its decision on environmental benefits and/or survey results.
