Apple said to have sold nearly 4 million Apple Watches in Q3

While Apple CEO Tim Cook has so far offered no indication as to how many Apple Watches have been sold, this hasn't stopped analysts from guessing.

The latest figures in November say that Apple has sold roughly 6 to 7 million Apple Watches since launch, which makes it in the best-selling smartwatch by a large margin.

And the latest numbers from market research firm IDC for Q3 seems to support that. According to IDC, Apple sold about 3.9 million Apple Watches in Q3. This makes Apple the number two brand in wearables behind Fitbit, which sold an estimated 4.7 million units in Q3. In third is Xiaomi which sold an estimated 3.7 million units.

While the Apple Watch may not be a runaway hit like the iPhone, these numbers are certainly encouraging for the Apple Watch considering its price in relation with its competitors. Fitbit's lineup of activity trackers are significantly more affordable than the Apple Watch and Xiaomi's latest Mi Band 1S is only about US$16.

Apple is said to be releasing the next-generation Apple Watch in summer next year. What features do you wish for it to have?
