Apple said to have found periscope telephoto lens supplier for the 2023 iPhone

Apple reportedly recruited a South Korean supplier for periscope telephoto lens.

According to TheElec, Jahwa Electronics plans to spend 191 billion won on building facilities to produce OIS actuators. The budget size suggests that Jahwa has a new customer and sources believe it is Apple as the iPhone maker visited Jahwa's OIS production lines in South Korea in the first half of 2021.

Jahwa plans to start supplying OIS actuators to Apple during Q2 2023 and they are expected to be used for the telephoto cameras on the 2023 iPhone models.

DigiTimes claimed in December 2020 that Apple is aiming to improve the zoom capabilities on the iPhone and may work with South Korean firms on periscope lenses. Analyst Jeff Pu says the Apple iPhone 15 Pro could support optical zoom up to 5x.
