Don't buy a new iPad now, Apple rumoured to be announcing new iPads on 26 March

According to a Chinese leaker, Instant Digital, Apple will announce new iPads next week on 26 March.

Another Chinese source, IT Home, also said that 26 March will be the day that Apple announces new iPads. However, their claim is based on when new iPad cases will go live on Amazon, rather than information from a trusted source.

Even though Apple might announce new iPads on 26 March, don't expect them to ship soon. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg says the new variant of iPadOS 17.4 that is required for the new models won't be ready until the end of March or early April.

And even when it's ready, Apple's factories will need time to install the software. This means that even if Apple does announce new iPads next week, we might have to wait until the middle or even late April before they will be available in retail.

According to rumours, the iPad models that will be announced are the iPad Pro and iPad Air. The iPad Pro will likely get an OLED display and Apple's new M3 chip. And as for the iPad Air, we could see an all-new 12.9-inch model.

The rumours also say that the iPad Pro might get slimmer bezels and that it might have a new matte display option that would minimize glare. Word on the street also is that these new models will have a front landscape camera so that the camera is on top of the screen when it's in landscape orientation – just like the 10th-generation iPad.

Just weeks ago, Apple updated its 13 and 15-inch MacBook Airs with the M3 chip.
