Earlier this year, Tim Bajarin from TIME wrote an article explaining the main focus of the Apple Watch is actually health. The Apple Watch can assist in fine-tuning the sensors, radios and other monitoring technologies for the company to create a health-tracking device, which is reportedly coming next year.

According to the Economic Daily News, Apple will be launching a "killer new product" which can "accurately collect users' personal daily life including heart rate, pulse, blood sugar changes and other information". Apparently, Apple has been working on this upcoming health-tracking device for more than two years.

With a scheduled launch in 2017, Apple is reportedly working with suppliers such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) and Foxconn. The 3D Touch technology, which is featured in the iPhone 6s, plays a central role in the health-tracking device.

Together with the 2017 iPhone, the health-tracking device has the potential to help Apple "set off a new whirlwind" in the technology industry similar to how the iPhone disrupted the smartphone market.
