Apple could be bringing 5G connectivity to its MacBook lineup in 2020.

According to DigiTimes, Apple is expected to introduce 5G-enabled MacBooks in the second half of 2020. It is said to be using a ceramic antenna component to enhance cellular reception and transmission speed on the MacBook. Although 5G speeds could be as twice as fast with ceramic materials, it would cost Apple six times as much as the standard metallic components.

If the report is true, the 5G MacBooks will debut alongside the 5G iPhones next year. Apple recently acquired Intel's smartphone modem business and it will help expedite the development of its own 5G modems for use on its products.
