Apple reportedly manufacturing the Mac Pro in China

The new Apple Mac Pro.

Apple's latest Mac Pro is reportedly assembled outside of the U.S.

The Wall Street Journal claims that the recently announced Mac Pro will be assembled by Quanta Computer in China as it will cost Apple more to build it in the U.S. Quanta is believed to have ramped up production of the Mac Pro at a factory near Shanghai.

An Apple spokesperson shared that "final assembly is only one part of the manufacturing process". He added that the Mac Pro is designed and engineered in the U.S with some U.S-made components.

The current Mac Pro, which was released in 2013, is the only major Apple product manufactured in the U.S. However, Apple faced issues assembling the Mac Pro in the U.S as it could not secure enough custom screws from U.S-based suppliers. This was said to have delayed the retail availability by a few months.
