Apple reportedly had plans for an iPad with a plastic design.
Mark Gurman from Bloomberg revealed in his Power On newsletter that Apple "internally considered an iPad with a plastic back and plastic keyboard" which would be priced as a package under US$500. Gurman believes the plastic iPad would have given Chromebooks "a run for their money" in schools.
The iPad maker has abandoned plans to release such a device, but it makes us wonder whether this tablet could have been the Apple iPad (2022) or positioned as an iPad SE.
We've reviewed the Apple iPad (2022) and found it to be the best option for consumers who don't need the Apple Pencil. While the iPad (2022) delivers good performance in a thin and light design, it has a clumsy Apple Pencil integration and a 60Hz display.
