Apple reportedly aims to triple iPhone production in India by 2024

The Apple iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

India is quickly moving up Apple's supply chain based on the latest report by mint.

Three sources with knowledge of the matter claim Apple is looking to triple iPhone production in India over the next two years. Apple is said to have instructed Foxconn, Pegatron and Wistron to expand their manufacturing capacities in India.

Mint's claims are in line with recent reports about Apple shifting iPhone production away from China to India. J.P. Morgan analysts predict a quarter of iPhone production will be made in India by 2025.

Bloomberg estimates iPhone exports from India will hit $2.5 billion by March 2023. Bloomberg added that Pegatron is the second Apple supplier after Foxconn to be assemblying the iPhone 14 in India.

The recent turmoil and Covid-19 outbreaks in China apparently forced Apple to acceleratee plans to shift production out of China. Besides the iPhone, Apple is believed to be assembling AirPods, Beats headphones and the iPad in India.
