Apple Pencil support could be coming to the new 9.7-inch iPad

Apple Pencil support could be coming to the new 9.7-inch iPad

Only the iPad Pro models support the Apple Pencil at the moment.

The new low-cost iPad which will be announced next week is likely to support the Apple Pencil.

In his latest research report, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo wrote that the new 9.7-inch iPad will work with the Apple Pencil. He predicts Apple Pencil shipments to double this year and the iPhone eventually supporting Apple Pencil too.

The Apple Pencil is currently supported on the iPad Pro models (9.7-inch, 10.5-inch and 12.9-inches). It is not entirely impossible for Apple to expand the support of Apple Pencil to the new 9.7-inch iPad which is targeted at the education sector.

Bloomberg reported last year that Apple is developing a new version of the Apple Pencil and new software tools for using it. Apple Pencil support on the iPhone is also reportedly coming in 2019.
