Apple is only providing a charging cable in the box for the iPhone 12

While Apple packs the latest and greatest technologies into the iPhone 12 models, it is also removing two basic items from the retail packaging - the power adapter and earphones.

Apple is only bundling a USB-C to Lightning cable in the box for all iPhone 12 models. The company justified its decision based on environmental concerns. It states that the removal of these two basic accessories will reduce carbon emissions, and avoid the mining and use of precious materials.

This in turn helps Apple to create smaller and lighter packing for the iPhone 12, and allows for 70% more boxes to be shipped on a pallet. Overall, Apple believes these changes will reduce over 2 million metric tons of carbon emissions every year, which is equivalent to removing almost 450,000 cars from the road per year.

For consumers who want to purchase Apple's power adapter and/or earphones, be prepared to fork out $29 each for the EarPods with Lightning Connector and the 20W USB-C power adapter. Well, now it seems that having a 5W power adapter isn't that bad after all.
