Apple's latest iOS Security Guide confirms that it now uses Google’s Google Cloud Platform for data storage for its iCloud services.
Apple was previously using remote data storage systems provided by Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.
But in the latest version, the Microsoft Azure reference is gone, and in its place is Google Cloud Platform:
“The encrypted chunks of the file are stored, without any user-identifying information, using third-party storage services, such as [Amazon] S3 and Google Cloud Platform.”
In addition to Apple, other Google Cloud Platform customers include PayPal, Snap and Spotify.
