The next iPhone SE will likely feature a "modified" iPhone 14 chassis

The current generation iPhone SE still has a Home button.

Word on the street is that Apple is working on a new iPhone SE. The SE is Apple's true entry-level budget phone and the last update came in early 2022.

According to rumours, the next iPhone SE will feature a dramatic redesign with Apple finally retiring the iPhone 8 design that was used for the last two generations of the iPhone SE.

Instead, it will use a modified version of the iPhone 14 chassis, which means flat sides and an all-display front. Consequently, the next iPhone SE is said to ditch the Home button in favour of Face ID.

Another rumour is that the next iPhone SE will have a single 48-megapixel camera. The iPhone SE always had a single-camera design so that's nothing unusual, but the decision to include a 48-megapixel is unexpected given that it was only this year that all the iPhone 15 series phones got 48-megapixel main cameras.

It's unclear when Apple will release a new iPhone SE. The first iPhone SE was released in 2016 and we had to wait four years for the second-generation model. However, the third-generation iPhone SE came just two years later. The general consensus is that the next iPhone SE will be announced sometime in 2025.
