New iMac rumoured to be launching later this year with Apple's new M3 chip

The current-generation 24-inch iMac was launched in 2021.

Lots of Mac rumours today. Apart from Apple being expected to launch three new Macs by WWDC 2023, another big rumour is that Apple is working on a new iMac that is expected to launch in the second half of this year.

According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, this new iMac is expected to feature the same 24-inch display as the current-generation model but it will be powered by Apple's upcoming M3 chip.

Gurman says this new iMac is now at "an advanced stage of development" and that Apple is presently "conducting production tests."

Details surrounding this new iMac and is scarce but it's believed that it will be powered by Apple's upcoming M3 that will be built on a new 3nm process.

The M2, M2 Pro, and M2 Max are currently Apple's newest chips and they are built on a second-generation 5nm process.

Gurman also says this new iMac will be available in the same colours as its predecessor which means blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange, and purple.

An update to the iMac is long overdue. The current-generation 24-inch iMac was launched in May 2021 and hasn't been updated since.

Hopefully, Apple will improve the next version with some highly requested features like the ability to use its built-in display with other sources.
