Apple may bring iPhone 13 with 5G mmWave to more countries this year

Apple iPhone 12 models that support 5G mmWave are only available in the U.S.

While the iPhone 12 models with 5G mmWave are limited to the U.S market, it is likely to be a different story for the upcoming iPhone 13 lineup.

In his latest research note, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says shipment of iPhone 13 models with 5G mmWave will grow to 55 - 60%. In addition, more countries such as Canada, Japan, Australia and major European markets are expected to have these iPhone 13 models with 5G mmWave.

Display analyst Ross Young claimed last year that the iPhone 13 Pro models will support both mmWave and sub-6GHz, while the non-Pro models only come with sub-6GHz.

For those who are not aware, 5G is available in two forms: mmWave and Sub-6GHz. mmWave is a higher frequency version of 5G that offers ultra-fast speeds, but they are ultra-short range and can be blocked by trees, walls, doors and windows. Sub-6GHz, which consists of mid and low-frequency bands, have a longer range and penetrate objects better. However, Sub-6GHz speed are faster than 4G speeds.
