Apple has just announced its macro photography "Shot on iPhone" challenge for 2022.

As usual, Apple is inviting photographers, amateurs and professionals, regardless of photography skill, to submit their best macro photos.

To enter, simply share their macro photos on Instagram, Twitter, or Weibo with the hashtags #ShotoniPhone and #iPhonemacrochallenge.

Participants can submit photos straight from the camera or edited with the tools in the Photos app or with third-party software.

The photos will be judged by a panel of 10 judges from around the world. 25-year-old Singaporean photographer Yik Keat (@yk) has been selected to be one of the judges. Despite his young age, he has worked with brands like Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Adidas, and Porsche.

This does mean the contest is restricted only to owners of the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max because these are the only iPhones with macro capability. Using the new ultra wide camera, these two models enable users to take photos from as close as 2cm.
