Apple likely to equip future iPad Pro models with Face ID

Similar to how Touch ID first appeared on the iPhone in 2013 and eventually made its way onto the iPad in 2014, the same is likely to happen for Face ID.

KGI Securities analyst Ming Chi-Kuo claims that the upcoming iPad Pro models will be equipped with Face ID. He does not expect Face ID to be implemented on the more affordable models as the Pro models are regarded as the flagship devices with the best specs.

Kuo believes Apple's aim of bringing Face ID to the iPad Pro is trying to standardize the user experience between the tablet and the iPhone X. It will also encourage developers to adopt Face ID as the default login method for iOS devices. However, he did not mention whether Touch ID will be replaced on the iPad Pro as there is still space in the current form factor to accomodate both the fingerprint sensor and TrueDepth camera system.
