Apple's new iPhone 11 comes with dual cameras and fun new colours

Apple today introduced the iPhone 11, the spiritual successor to last year's iPhone XR. The iPhone XR is to date the most popular iPhone in the world, and 2019's model comes with a few extra goodies. Much like the flagship iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max, the regular iPhone 11 features an additional ultra-wide camera for a total of two lenses.

The dual-camera system comprises 12MP ultra-wide and wide cameras, both featuring the same specifications as the ones on the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max. This means an f/2.4 aperture and 120° field of view on the ultra-wide angle shooter and an f/1.8 aperture on the wide camera. The main wide-angle camera also offers optical image stabilisation. The main difference compared to the flagship models is the lack of the 2x zoom telephoto lens.

The camera interface has been updated as well. One new addition is QuickTake, which lets you start recording a video by simply holding down the shutter button. This is not unlike how you would record a video in Instagram, so people should take to this quite easily. Another nifty inclusion is the new immersive UI, which takes advantage of the ultra-wide camera to let you see outside of the frame when you're shooting.

Like the iPhone XR, the iPhone 11 utilises a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina LCD display with True Tone and Haptic Touch. The notch is still present, but it now houses an improved 12MP TrueDepth camera for wider group selfies. On top of that, Apple introduced a new Slo-Mo selfie feature which will, well, let you take selfies in slow motion. It's one of those gleefully excessive features that you never thought you needed, but which you'll probably end up having a lot of fun with.

The back of the iPhone 11 is sculpted from a single piece of glass, which Apple says is the toughest glass ever in a smartphone. The phone itself is rated IP68 for water and dust resistance, and it can be submerged up to 2m for 30 minutes.

The iPhone 11 is available in six new colours, including purple, green, yellow, black, white and PRODUCT (RED). It starts at S$1,149 for the 64GB version and will be up for pre-order starting 8PM on 13th September. You can also get it with 128GB or 256GB of storage.
