Apple has unveiled its newest iPad Pro and, just as the rumours have predicted, it's mostly a spec-bump update.

From the press photos, it looks like the design is mostly unchanged. It still has a single USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port.

To be honest, though there's nothing wrong with the design – it still looks sleek and elegant – it is starting to look a little stale. After all, the iPad Pro has looked like this since 2018.

The iPad Pro still comes in two sizes: 11 and 12.9 inches. And only the larger one has a Liquid Retina XDR mini-LED display. The smaller 11-inch model must make do with a "regular" Liquid Retina IPS LCD display.

The big update is under the hood. These new iPad Pros are powered by Apple's newest M2 chip which debuted in the updated 13-inch MacBook Pro and all-new MacBook Air.

The M2 chip in the iPad Pro features an 8-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. Apple claims up to 15% better CPU performance and up to 35% GPU performance over M1. That's substantial considering how overpowered the last iPad Pro already was.

Another big update is Apple Pencil Hover, a feature designed to give users better precision with their Apple Pencil. With this feature, the new iPad Pros can detect the Apple Pencil when it's nearby (up to 12mm) and start showing users a preview of their mark. Here's the feature in action below:

Finally, the new iPad Pros are the first Apple devices to support the new Wi-Fi 6E standard. This lets them work with compatible Wi-Fi 6E routers to attain faster wireless speeds and lower latency.
