Just weeks after laying off a reported 200 people from its secret car project team, Apple has just hired Michael Schwekutsch, Tesla's ex-VP of Engineering.

Schwekutsch will join Apple as a Senior Director of Engineering at the Special Projects Group, but unsurprisingly, there's no mention of what his role at Apple is exactly.

Schwekutsch used to oversee Tesla's powertrains and has extensive experience in designing electric and hybrid powertrains.

According to reports, Schwekutsch had worked on the BMW i8, Porsche 918 Spyder, Fiat 500e, and more.

The question now on everyone's lip is this: is Apple working on its electric car or not?
