Apple Glasses could be unveiled in 2021 and made available in 2022
The Apple Glasses or AR glasses could be announced earlier than expected.
Tipster Jon Prosser tweeted that he believes analyst Ming-Chi Kuo's report on the AR glasses arriving in 2022 is wrong. Prosser heard the Apple Glasses are currently slated for an announcement in March or June 2021. In addition, he claims to have seen them and describes them as sleek.
It is possible that both Prosser and Kuo are right in their claims. Apple could announce the AR glasses in March or June 2021and give developers a one-year period to develop apps. The Information made a similar claim last year; it reported that Apple plans to reach out to developers as early as 2021 to encourage them to create an app ecosystem for the glasses. Hence, there is a possibility of the glasses being previewed earlier than 2022.
Apple has adopted this strategy before in the past few years. It announced the Apple Watch in September 2014 and the smartwatch only went on sale six months later in April 2015. The HomePod smart speaker was unveiled in June 2017 and hit retail shelves in February 2018.
