New details on Apple's foldable plans have been revealed by Display Supply Chain Consultant (DSCC) analyst Ross Young.

According to the analyst, Apple may enter the foldable notebook with a 20-inch MacBook model. The size of the foldable MacBook screen would mean that the device can function as a notebook with a full-sized keyboard when folded and as a 4K or higher resolution monitor when unfolded with an external keyboard. The 20-inch foldable MacBook is tipped to launch in 2026 or 2027.

As for the foldable iPhone, Young heard from his supply chain contacts that it has been delayed till 2025. Sources say Apple is taking its time to enter the foldable phone market and could take a longer time to release the device.

Earlier rumours suggest that the foldable iPhone could launch in 2023 with Apple Pencil support. Apple is said to have developed prototype foldable displays including one that unfolds to a 6.7-inch display and a clamshell form factor.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the foldable iPhone will have a 7.5-inch to 8.0-inch display and its launch timeline is pushed back to 2024 due to "key technology and mass production issues". Kuo also predicts Apple shipping up to 20 million units of the foldable iPhone in the first year of launch.
