Apple said to be delaying the unveiling of its AR/VR headset to June
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is postponing the launch of its rumoured mixed-reality headset from April to June.
The report says that intensive testing revealed that there are still hardware and software issues to be fixed and there's a good chance now that Apple will choose to unveil the headset at WWDC 2023 instead.
A June unveil would still give Apple time to prep the device for sale later this year. Obviously, the goal is to get the headset on store shelves by the end of the year.
Earlier, it was rumoured that Apple would unveil the headset sometime in spring during the company's somewhat traditional spring event.
Does this mean we won't have a spring event this year? It's hard to say because Apple has yet to launch a new Mac Pro and we've been hearing rumours of a new 15.5-inch MacBook Air.
Details surrounding this new headset are understandably scarce, but it is widely believed that it will be priced at around US$3,000 when it launches. This will obviously limit its appeal to consumers but Apple is said to be already working on a second-generation headset that will be more affordable.
