Apple may unveil a new monitor at this Wednesday's Peek Performance event.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg wrote in his Power On newsletter that the external monitor has been completed "months ago". Apple initially wanted to announce it shortly after the launch of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros.

Gurman believes Apple is developing another external monitor which is more affordable and geared towards the mainstream consumer.

9to5Mac reported days ago that the external display could boast 7K resolution and Apple is likely to brand it as "Apple Studio Display". It may complement an upcoming higher-end Mac mini or Mac Pro.

Apple's Peek Performance event on 9 March (2am SGT) is expected to see the debut of a new iPhone SE, a new iPad Air, and an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro.
